SPRING, 2012.

THIS PROJECT LASTED 2 MONTHS. SPENT ABOUT 80 HOURS AND $100 MAKING THEM. HAND CARVED THE TWO WOOD HANDLES OUT OF RED OAK WITH A HAND PLANAR. THEN, I SANDED THEM AND SOAKED THEM IN A RESIN BATH FOR 1 WEEK TO MAKE SURE THE RESIN WOULD GET IN ALL THE PORES TO MAKE THEM VERY HARD AND TOUGH. HUNG THE HANDLES TO DRY COMPLETELY FOR 1 WEEK. DESIGNED AND PRODUCED THE FIRST CHAINMAILLE UNIVERSAL JOINT TO MY KNOWLEDGE USING A WASHER THAT SPINS FREELY IN THE CHAINMAILLE. THEN, I WEAVED THE CHAINMAILLE (EURO 4 IN 1 WITH 12 ROWS) OVER EACH JOINT AND WELDED THE RINGS. USING EPOXY RESIN, I CEMENTED THE BOLTS INTO THE WOOD. THE BOLTS RUN THROUGH THE WASHERS AND NUTS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WASHERS KEEP THEM ATTACHED. TESTED THEM ON A PUNCHING BAG AND WAS VERY HAPPY WITH THE RESULTS - FUNCTIONAL, BEAUTIFUL, AND DURABLE.
